Garry Kasparov warns of potential Russian aggression against NATO

Russian opposition leader Garry Kasparov has warned of an increasing risk that Russia may attempt to cross a NATO land border. Kasparov suggests that Moscow might seek to test the alliance's readiness to invoke Article 5 of the NATO treaty, specifically during a window between late September and early January. He notes that the Russian leadership may be motivated to act before the new US Congress begins its work in January.

Regarding domestic politics, Kasparov characterized recent Russian elections as a tool to demonstrate national unity by incorporating occupied territories. He argued that the Kremlin is using the electoral process to seek legitimacy for its regime and to show activity to its 'donors.' Additionally, he criticized the 'New People' party, describing it as a Kremlin-constructed entity designed to replace genuine opposition structures.
