Garry Kasparov warns Putin will likely escalate Ukraine war, not negotiate
In an interview with TVP World, former world‑chess champion Garry Kasparov said Russian President Vladimir Putin has no intention of ending the war in Ukraine because a peace settlement would threaten his regime. Kasparov warned that in the coming months Putin may test NATO’s resolve, possibly with a limited incursion into a Baltic state, to demonstrate unity‑testing aggression.
He described the Kremlin’s call for “negotiations” as a thinly‑veiled demand for Kyiv’s capitulation and repeated that “the only way to end this war is the removal of the Putin regime,” which will continue fighting while he remains in power.
