Garsten Forensic Center murder investigation

A 40-year-old inmate was found dead on Monday afternoon at the Forensic-Therapeutic Center (FTZ) in Garsten, Austria. The Austrian Ministry of Justice has confirmed a suspicion of murder against a 63-year-old fellow inmate.

Both individuals were held under measures execution, a status for persons deemed legally sane but classified as dangerous due to severe and lasting mental disorders. Preliminary reports suggest the incident occurred in a hallway rather than a cell after 3:00 PM. The Upper Austria State Criminal Police Office (LKA) has taken over the investigation, and the weapon used has been secured.

The Ministry stated it is committed to a complete investigation involving all internal processes and expressed condolences to the victim's family.
