Garut Kite Festival draws participants from 13 nations
The Garut International Kite Festival (GIKF) 2026 was held at the Agrowisata Tepas Papandayan site in the Cisurupan district of Garut, West Java, from July 29 to August 2, 2026. Hundreds of participants from across Indonesia and 13 countries flew kites to promote tourism, cultural heritage and strengthen the international kite‑flying community.
West Java provincial legislator Aten Munajat, representing Garut, urged that the event become an annual fixture on the regional and national tourism calendar. He highlighted the festival’s positive impact on local economies, including hospitality, culinary businesses, UMKM and the creative sector, and suggested rotating the venue to other tourism‑potential areas in the province.
