Garvita Bhakuni chosen for President's At Home Reception

Garvita Bhakuni, a resident of Lower Mall Road in Almora, Uttarakhand, was selected as one of five Yuva Aapda Mitra (Young Disaster Friend) cadets from across India to represent the state at the President's Independence Day "At Home" Reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan on August 15.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated her, saying the honor reflects the service spirit, discipline and commitment of the state's youth to disaster management. Secretary of Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Suman noted that the Yuva Aapda Mitra scheme, implemented with the National Disaster Management Authority, has trained 4,310 young volunteers in Uttarakhand, of which about 2,700 have already received training in search‑and‑rescue, first aid, evacuation and community awareness. The scheme draws participants from the National Cadet Corps, National Service Scheme, Mera Yuva Bharat and Bharat Scouts and Guides. One cadet each from Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram and Nagaland joins Bhakuni at the ceremony.
