Gary Glitter appears in London court on historic sex offence charges

Former British pop star Paul Gadd, known as Gary Glitter, appeared by videolink from prison at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London. The 82‑year‑old was charged with unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 and three counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14, alleged to have occurred between 1978 and 1981 when the victim was eight to eleven years old at Gadd’s Kensington home. Prosecutor Jonathan Polnay reported the victim reported the abuse in 2025; Gadd denied knowing her. He was remanded in custody pending a hearing at the Old Bailey on 2 September.

Gadd is currently serving a 16‑year sentence imposed in 2015 for abusing three schoolgirls between 1975 and 1980. He was previously jailed in 1999 for child‑pornography offences, deported from Cambodia in 2002, and convicted in Vietnam in 2006 for obscene acts with two girls. He told the court he is “extremely deaf.”
