Gary Hee raises funds for BC Children’s Hospital through corn sales

Gary Hee, an 82-year-old resident of the Surrey/Langley border, has launched the ‘Chilliwack Corn Express’ to raise funds for BC Children’s Hospital. To mark his birthday, Hee purchased 2,400 cobs of corn to sell at various locations.

To date, the initiative has raised $1,551. The project is supported by Sparkes Corn Barn, which provides the corn at a discount and matches the amount Hee buys with free ears. Hee chose to support the hospital due to his family's personal experience with the facility, noting that a grandchild received significant medical care there.

The corn sales are expected to continue through mid-September. Hee will also participate in a special event hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion in Cloverdale on September 12.
