Gary Kirsten supports free entry for Sri Lanka-India Test series
Sri Lanka head coach Gary Kirsten has expressed support for Sri Lanka Cricket’s decision to provide free entry to spectators in selected stands during the upcoming two-match Test series against India. The initiative includes free access to the grass embankments at the Galle International Cricket Stadium and the Sinhalese Sports Club. Kirsten noted that having full stadiums is beneficial for the players and enhances the atmosphere for the longest format of the game.
Ahead of the series, Kirsten also commented on the coaching credentials of India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir. Highlighting Gambhir’s previous successes in the IPL and international tournaments, Kirsten described him as a “fantastic coach” with significant cricketing intelligence.
The upcoming Test series carries implications for the World Test Championship. Kirsten, who previously led India to the 2011 ODI World Cup title, emphasized his current commitment to Sri Lankan cricket and his desire to see the team succeed on the international stage.
