Gary Neville calls for Glazer family to sell Manchester United
Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has publicly urged the Glazer family to sell their majority stake in the club. Speaking on the ‘Stick to Football’ podcast, Neville stated that the moment for the American owners to depart has arrived, citing a decade of footballing failure and a lack of investment in the club's infrastructure.
Neville criticized the owners for their perceived absence from Old Trafford over the last two decades and questioned their financial plans for a new stadium, noting that the club is heavily in debt and seeking to borrow £2 billion for the project.
The call for ownership change comes amid a difficult period for the club, which is experiencing a poor start to its Premier League campaign and recent struggles in the Champions League. While the Glazer family sold a minority stake to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group in 2024, they remain the majority owners.
