Chelsea has reached a verbal agreement with Aston Villa to sign goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez for a fee of approximately £7.5 million. The 33-year-old Argentine World Cup winner is expected to undergo a medical in London and sign a contract for two years, with an option for a third. The move follows recent scrutiny of Chelsea's current goalkeeper, Robert Sánchez, after errors in a match against Fulham.

Aston Villa has prepared for Martínez's departure by signing Zion Suzuki from Parma. In a related development, Chelsea has also agreed to sell striker Nicolas Jackson to Aston Villa for roughly £65 million.

Separately, Liam Delap has completed a transfer from Chelsea to Nottingham Forest. The 23-year-old forward joined Forest on a five-year deal in a deal reported to be worth approximately £45 million, potentially rising to £50 million with bonuses, making him the most expensive signing in Nottingham Forest's history.
