Gary Oldman reveals Alan Rickman's kindness to children on Harry Potter sets

Actor Gary Oldman revealed at the Toronto International Film Festival that the late Alan Rickman frequently hosted children from schools and hospitals on the ‘Harry Potter’ film sets. Oldman noted that Rickman, who portrayed Severus Snape, wanted to share the experience of the wizarding world with young people because he understood how much it meant to them.

Oldman described Rickman as a committed ‘cheerleader’ for the franchise who would bring children on tours of the sets and invite friends and their families for lunches.

Additionally, Oldman commented on the upcoming HBO television adaptation of the Harry Potter series. He expressed optimism that the series will be ‘more satisfying’ than the films because it will have the space to follow the original books more closely, whereas the movies required significant cuts to fit within a three-hour runtime.
