Gary Peters to lead USC political center alongside Mike Murphy

The University of Southern California has announced that retiring Democratic Michigan Senator Gary Peters will lead its Center for the Political Future starting next year. Peters, who has served in the Senate since 2015, will serve as co-director alongside Republican strategist Mike Murphy, creating a bipartisan leadership structure for the center.

Peters stated that his return to higher education is intended to encourage younger generations to engage in civic activism and combat the perception that politics is too toxic. He described the role as a “capstone” of his career in public service. USC Dornsife Dean James Bullock commended Peters for his ability to work across the political aisle and his experience in Washington.
