Gary Woodland named captain’s assistant for 2026 Presidents Cup

Gary Woodland has been named the fourth and final captain’s assistant for Team USA at the 2026 Presidents Cup. Woodland joins a leadership team led by captain Brandt Snedeker, which includes Jim Furyk, Keegan Bradley, and Webb Simpson.

The event is scheduled to take place from September 24-27 at the Medinah Country Club near Chicago. Woodland, a 2019 U.S. Open champion, previously competed in the biennial event as a player at Royal Melbourne in 2019. He also served as a vice-captain for the United States at the 2025 Ryder Cup.

Brandt Snedeker cited Woodland’s respect among peers and his “perspective, passion and a team-first mentality” as key reasons for his selection. Woodland expressed that he was “honoured to get the call” and noted the pride associated with representing his country in the competition.
