Gas incidents force evacuations and safety alerts in Germany and Austria
In Treysa, Germany, a construction worker struck a natural‑gas pipeline on Westweg on Monday morning. Police were alerted at 09:44 and fire crews evacuated nearby homes as a precaution. In St. Lorenzen im Mürztal, Austria, a technical defect caused a gas bottle and its pressure regulator to catch fire in a garden plot on Sunday evening. The volunteer fire brigade quickly extinguished the blaze, protected a nearby hedge and cooled the cylinder. No one was injured. The fire service used the incident to urge regular inspection of gas hoses, regulators and connections for grills.
