Gas leak at Brasília International Airport hospitalizes seven staff

Around 16:22 on July 9, 2026, a smell of gas was detected in the administrative area of Brasília International Airport. The leak, suspected to have originated from an air‑conditioning unit, prompted the airport’s civil firefighters to evacuate the area and begin an inspection.

Inframérica, the airport operator, said seven airline‑company employees required medical attention after feeling ill, but all were treated on‑site and flights continued without disruption. The operator confirmed that landing, take‑off and passenger services were unaffected while the investigation into the source of the leak proceeds.
