Multiple residential gas leaks and fires reported in Germany and Austria

Multiple residential emergencies involving gas leaks and fires have been reported across Germany and Austria.

In Greiz, Germany, a suspected gas leak led to the evacuation of approximately 50 residents and caused temporary disruptions to local train services. In Salzgitter, a gas leak in a multi-family house left eight apartments without hot water and impacted a local restaurant; the property owner suspects recent construction work may be the cause.

Fire incidents have also caused significant disruption. In Plambacheck, Austria, 173 emergency responders battled a major residential fire that spread to the roof, resulting in one injury. In Fischlham, Austria, a heating cellar fire forced residents to evacuate via balconies, with two women treated for suspected smoke inhalation. In Saarbrücken, Germany, a basement fire in a rental building trapped several residents, though all were eventually rescued by firefighters and remained uninjured.
