Gas prices rise in Arequipa and Veracruz
Domestic gas prices are experiencing increases in different regions. In Arequipa, Peru, the price of a 10-kilogram gas cylinder has risen to S/54 in districts such as Paucarpata. Distributors attribute this hike to increased transportation costs caused by the blockade of the Panamericana Sur highway, which forced trucks to take longer alternative routes through Cusco, raising fuel expenses.
In Mexico, specifically in the Veracruz and Boca del Río regions, the maximum authorized price for LP gas is set to increase slightly for the week of August 23 to 29, 2026. The maximum price per kilogram will rise to 18.44 pesos including VAT, up from 18.32 pesos the previous week. These weekly adjustments in Mexico are regulated by the Secretaría de Energía and are based on international reference prices and exchange rates.
