Gas truck collision causes heavy damage in Playa del Carmen

A gas tanker collided with and dragged a passenger vehicle for several meters in the Villas del Sol residential area of Playa del Carmen. The incident occurred at a turnaround on Alondras Avenue near Colorines Street.

Preliminary reports indicate the driver of the gas truck entered the turnaround in the wrong direction. As the driver of the compact car attempted a legal maneuver to re-enter the roadway, the tanker struck the vehicle, causing severe damage to the bodywork and detaching the front right tire from its rim.

Despite the intensity of the impact and the potential risk of a fuel leak or explosion in a populated area, no injuries were reported. Both parties remained at the scene to coordinate with insurance adjusters to reach a settlement for the material damages.
