GasEntec receives Lloyd’s Register approval for high-capacity FSRU design
Lloyd’s Register has awarded Approval in Principle (AiP) to GasEntec for a high-capacity liquefied natural gas (LNG) floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) concept. The design, presented at Gastech 2026 in Bangkok, is capable of delivering up to one billion cubic feet of gas per day, positioning it among the highest-capacity FSRU designs currently under development.
A defining feature of the concept is its multi-mode regasification system, which can operate in open, closed, and combined-loop modes. This functionality is intended to provide operators with the flexibility to adapt to varying environmental conditions, regulatory requirements, and specific project needs.
The design utilizes a modular architecture that allows for configuration based on different capacities, pressures, and operational requirements. GasEntec intends to use this approval to advance the design toward execution, aiming to support developers seeking to bring LNG import capacity online quickly to meet accelerating global energy demands.
