Gases de Occidente announces $12 billion relief after earthquake

Gases de Occidente (GdO) has announced a relief package totaling up to $12 billion pesos following a 7.4 magnitude earthquake on August 10, 2026, which impacted Valle del Cauca and northern Cauca.

As a preventive measure during the initial 72 hours of the emergency, gas service was suspended for over 50,000 users to inspect critical infrastructure, including regulation stations and valves. Currently, only 541 users remain without service. The company reported no fatalities or emergencies directly linked to gas services during the contingency.

The financial relief, structured with Brilla, includes debt forgiveness for properties listed in the Unified Registry of Victims (Registro Único de Damnificados), the waiver of preventive inspection fees, and grace periods.

Additionally, GdO has engaged in community support, delivering over 890 food rations to medical personnel in Cali and vulnerable communities in Buenaventura, alongside 3.3 tons of food and essential supplies.
