Gasoline price gouging reported on Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway

A driver reported being forced to purchase gasoline at an inflated price of 45,000 VND per liter on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway. The price is nearly 20,000 VND higher than the standard retail rate of approximately 25,630 VND per liter.

The incident occurred near Km41+100, where a gas station was non-operational due to legal disputes and displayed a “temporary repair” sign. Facing a low fuel warning with only 24km of range remaining on a 30km stretch to the next major point, the driver purchased 10 liters for 450,000 VND through a contact provided by a local individual.

The transaction took place near a station belonging to the Dong Nai branch of Thai Son E&C, which was formerly operated by Chau Thanh Petroleum Trading Service Co., Ltd. This location serves as the final refueling point on a significant stretch of the highway.
