Gastón Benavídez to miss Athletico matches due to injury

Athletico Paranaense right-back Gastón Benavídez will miss upcoming rounds of the Campeonato Brasileiro due to a left calf muscle injury. The injury occurred during the Athletiba derby against Coritiba on Friday, September 11.

Following medical evaluations and complementary exams, the club confirmed the injury. Athletico has criticized Coritiba and the match officiating, alleging that Benavídez was the victim of violent fouls. The club noted that at the 27-minute mark, the player was struck by Lavega, who received only a yellow card, and again at the 31-minute mark by Jacy, where no foul was called.

In addition to Benavídez, Athletico will also be without Kevin Viveros and João Cruz for their upcoming match against Bahia, as both players are suspended following the accumulation of three yellow cards during the derby.
