Gastronomic festivals drive economic growth in Argentina and Mexico
Gastronomic events in Argentina and Mexico have demonstrated significant economic activity for their respective regions. In Villa La Angostura, Argentina, the ‘Día del Pinot’ festival held from August 18 to 20 generated over 24.3 million pesos across 180 operations. The event saw a 171% increase in participation from the first to the last day, with tourists accounting for more than 60% of identified consumers. Visitors traveled from nearby destinations such as San Martín de los Andes and Bariloche, as well as from Buenos Aires, Brazil, and various parts of Europe and Latin America.
In Puebla, Mexico, the government has announced the ‘Foodie Black Week Puebla 2026’. This initiative aims to position the state as a global culinary capital by uniting government, academia, and the business sector. The first edition of the ten-day festival is projected to generate an economic impact between 25 and 40 million pesos, driving growth in the restaurant, hotel, and local commerce sectors.
