Gastronomic festivals scheduled in Alto Larán and Lago Rosario
Two distinct culinary events are set to take place in Peru and Argentina, focusing on regional and ancestral traditions.
In the Alto Larán district of Peru, the Shrimp Festival will be held this Sunday, November 1, at the Los Camarones de Larán restaurant in Huampullo Bajo. The event features various shrimp-based dishes, including shrimp noodles, shrimp chicharrón, and shrimp chupe. The festival also includes wine tastings from local vineyards and musical performances. Jimmy Magallanes of the San Juan River Fishermen and Extractors Association noted that efforts are underway to maintain shrimp production in the San Juan River by introducing offspring from other riverbanks to encourage local breeding.
In Lago Rosario, Argentina, the 3rd Ancestral Gastronomic Encounter will take place this Saturday, October 31, at Camping La Victoria. The event aims to promote Mapuche traditional cuisine and preserve cultural knowledge through generations. Activities include tasting ancestral dishes, a local producers' fair, guided nature walks, and visits to the Casa de Artesanas and the Ruka Folil Museum.
