Gastronomic festivals scheduled in Barra do Piraí and Nova Iguaçu
Various gastronomic festivals are scheduled to take place in Rio de Janeiro state during late August.
In Barra do Piraí, the Arraiá de Ipiabas will run from August 28 to 30. The event features 15 exhibitors focusing on local production and traditional flavors. Highlights include regional soups, artisanal sweets, and dishes utilizing non-conventional edible plants (PANC). Producers such as Renato Runno and Marcilene da Silva will offer items ranging from traditional corn and cassava-based foods to creative reinterpretations of classic recipes.
In Nova Iguaçu, the Festa do Morango ‘Edição Pudim’ will be held from August 27 to 30 at the Shopping Nova Iguaçu parking lot. This free event focuses on strawberry and pudding-themed culinary creations, including unconventional pairings like pudding waffles and pudding-syrup pork rinds. The festival also includes a musical lineup featuring various genres such as sertanejo, pagode, and pop.
