Gastronomy destinations highlight Mexican cuisine and seafood in Turkey
In the Urla region, Da’s Cantina Urla has established itself as a significant destination in gastronomy tourism over the last decade. Founded by Yeditepe University Gastronomy graduates Didem and Alp Türkmenoğlu, the establishment is noted as the only venue in Izmir offering Mexican cuisine, featuring menu items such as cheddar nachos, shrimp tacos, carne asada burritos, and sea bass ceviche.
In the Erikli area of the Saroz Gulf, the İşçimen family operates Balıkçızade, located at the İşçimen Hotel. The restaurant specializes in fresh seasonal seafood from the Saroz Gulf, with a menu that includes signature appetizers, stuffed sea bass, and fried calamari. The family-run business emphasizes traditional culinary expertise across three generations.
