Gastronomy drives tourism growth in Brazil
Gastronomy is becoming a primary driver for tourism in Brazil, with travelers increasingly planning trips around culinary experiences rather than just cultural or nature-based itineraries. In 2025, Brazil saw a record 9.3 million foreign visitors, a 37.1 percent increase from the previous year, with over 95 percent of international tourists reporting positive experiences with the country's food.
The nation's culinary prestige has been bolstered by the Michelin Guide, which awarded three stars to two restaurants in São Paulo—Evvai and Tuju—marking them as the only establishments in Latin America to receive the highest distinction for the 2026 edition.
Experts note that Brazil's diverse regional cuisines, ranging from Paraná to Alagoas and Amazonas, offer unique ingredients and traditions that strengthen territorial identity and serve as strategic pillars for the tourism sector.
