Gates McFadden to write ‘Star Trek: Crusher’ comic series

Actress Gates McFadden, known for portraying Dr. Beverly Crusher in ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ and ‘Star Trek: Picard’, will make her comic book writing debut with IDW Publishing.

The upcoming limited series, titled ‘Star Trek: Crusher’, is scheduled to launch in summer 2027. McFadden will collaborate with artist Megan Levens and colorist Charlie Kirchoff. The narrative is designed to bridge a 20-year in-universe gap in the character’s history between the events of the film ‘Star Trek: Nemesis’ and the television series ‘Star Trek: Picard’.

McFadden expressed that it is an honor to expand the character's storyline, noting that after years of performing scripts written by others, she is thrilled to script a new chapter herself. IDW CEO Davidi Jonas highlighted the project as part of the company's ongoing celebrations for the franchise's 60th anniversary.
