Gateway Air aims to airlift Hajj pilgrims from Ogun State
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced that the state-owned airline, Gateway Air, is prepared to facilitate Hajj pilgrimages to Saudi Arabia. The initiative aims to airlift pilgrims from Ogun State and potentially extend services to intending pilgrims from other South-West Nigerian states, including Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti.
During a meeting with a delegation from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Abiodun expressed the state's intent to charter aircraft under the Gateway Air brand. This move seeks to utilize the Gateway International Airport to provide efficient and direct travel for pilgrims. The Governor noted that the state is monitoring new regulations regarding private-sector participation in Hajj operations to ensure compliance and operational success.
