Gatut Sunu Wibowo corruption trial scheduled for September 4

The first trial for inactive Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his aide, Dwi Yoga, is scheduled for Friday, September 4, 2026, at the Corruption Crime Court of the Surabaya District Court.

The case involves allegations of extortion and gratification within the Tulungagung Regency Government. The investigation follows a sting operation (OTT) conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on April 10, 2026, which resulted in the seizure of Rp335.4 million in cash and the detention of 18 individuals.

According to KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo, the prosecution is preparing indictments, evidence, and expert witnesses. The allegations suggest that Gatut Sunu solicited funds from at least 16 regional government organizations (OPD), totaling approximately Rp5 billion, of which an estimated Rp2.7 billion was allegedly received.
