Gatwick Airport launches automated robotic parking service

London Gatwick Airport has partnered with Stanley Robotics to roll out the United Kingdom’s first fully automated robotic parking system at the South Terminal. The robot, called Stan, can lift cars up to three tonnes, operates 24 hours a day and stores vehicles in a secure, non‑public area. Drivers drive into a small private garage, turn off the engine, scan their booking ticket and the robot parks the car; on return the vehicle is retrieved automatically. The service is available for a minimum five‑day stay, booked in advance between 9 am and 5 pm, and does not operate on weekends. Gatwick says the system will streamline pre‑flight parking, increase capacity and reduce passenger hassle. Oli Bedford, head of airport access, described it as “a real revolution for our passengers – fast, easy and you keep your keys.”
