Gaurav Bhatia files ₹2 crore defamation suit against CJP leaders

BJP national spokesperson and senior advocate Gaurav Bhatia has filed a ₹2 crore defamation suit in the Delhi High Court against leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), including Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka. The lawsuit alleges that the defendants circulated an AI-generated graphic on X that falsely attributed remarks to Bhatia regarding Swatantra Bhardwaj, an individual accused of assaulting a protester's father.

During a hearing, the Delhi High Court directed the CJP leaders to remove the disputed social media posts within 24 hours. Justice Tushar Rao Gedela noted that while youth have a right to protest and express opinions, such expressions must be verified and communicated responsibly. The court also issued summons and directed X to provide subscriber information for the relevant accounts.

Separately, the Supreme Court of India expressed grave concern regarding the alleged harassment and intimidation of a 14-year-old girl who participated in CJP protests. Chief Justice of India Surya Kant emphasized that violence or intimidation against a child must not be taken lightly and directed authorities to provide status reports on the security and legal proceedings involving the minor.
