Gautam Buddha Nagar enforces Section 163 restrictions until October 20
Authorities in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, have enforced Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) across the district from October 10 to October 20. The order, issued by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Archana Singh, aims to maintain law and order during a period of religious festivals, including Navratri, Mahanavami, and Dussehra, as well as various government examinations.
The restrictions prohibit the assembly of five or more persons in public spaces and unauthorized processions on thoroughfares or toll plazas without prior police clearance. The directive also bans religious gatherings, the display of religious banners at disputed sites, and the use of loudspeakers between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Additionally, flying drones within a one-kilometer radius of government buildings is prohibited without permission.
The measures are also a response to planned demonstrations by farmer unions and political organizations. In anticipation of these activities, security has been intensified, with additional personnel, including the Border Security Force, deployed at the borders between Noida and Delhi. To ensure the integrity of upcoming exams, gatherings of five or more people are barred within 200 meters of examination centers.
