Food safety authorities crack down on adulterated food in Delhi and Noida
Food safety authorities in Northern India have launched intensive inspection drives across Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad ahead of the festive season to combat food adulteration.
In Delhi, the Food Safety Department destroyed over 500 kg of spurious paneer at Okhla Sabzi Mandi and collected dozens of samples for laboratory analysis. Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh emphasized that maintaining food quality is a priority during periods of high demand for milk products and sweets.
In the Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida) and Ghaziabad regions, officials have taken significant enforcement actions. In Ghaziabad, approximately 10 quintals of Chhena Rasgulla were destroyed following reports of irregularities. In Noida, authorities seized and destroyed hundreds of kilograms of contaminated paneer and rasgullas, some of which were found in unhygienic conditions with insect presence.
Additionally, health officials in Gautam Buddha Nagar are monitoring a rise in swine flu cases, with nearly 120 reported instances. The health department has placed hospitals on alert and prepared a 20-bed ICU equipped with ventilators to manage potential critical cases.
