Gautam Gambhir and Gary Kirsten discuss coaching values in Galle

India head coach Gautam Gambhir and Sri Lanka coach Gary Kirsten met during the first Test in Galle following India's 165-run victory. The meeting reunited the former mentor and player, as Kirsten previously coached Gambhir during India's 2011 World Cup success.

Kirsten noted that their discussion focused on the professional challenges of international coaching and their shared commitment to Test cricket rather than personal reminiscence. He stated, “We actually spoke about coaching and the challenges of coaching, and we both have very strong values around Test cricket.”

India currently holds a 1-0 lead in the two-Test series, securing 12 World Test Championship points. The second Test is scheduled to take place in Colombo starting August 23.
