Senior members of the Indian men’s cricket team have privately raised concerns with officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about head coach Gautam Gambhir’s approach. The players allege that Gambhir often shifts blame to the squad, support staff or the Centre of Excellence and avoids taking responsibility for defeats, particularly after a 2‑0 home loss to South Africa and earlier setbacks against Australia in Test cricket.

Despite the growing unease, the BCCI continues to back Gambhir, though his authority is under scrutiny. The upcoming two‑Test tour of Sri Lanka, beginning on August 15, is seen as a pivotal opportunity for the coach to reaffirm his position and address the criticisms voiced by senior players and members of the BCCI Apex Council.
