Gavi region highlights Italian wine aging and luxury hospitality

The Gavi region in Piedmont, Italy, is highlighted through its distinct offerings in viticulture and high-end hospitality.

Villa Sparina, located in Monterotondo, has focused on producing Gavi since 1970. Under the leadership of Stefano Moccagatta, the winery has utilized modern vinification techniques to emphasize the natural acidity of the Cortese grape while reducing wood usage. The ‘Villa Sparina 10 Anni’ project demonstrates the wine's ability to age, evolving from simple freshness to complex notes of resin and balsamic aromas.

In the same region, Locanda La Raia, owned by the Rossi Cairo family, offers an exclusive lodging experience set within a 200-hectare estate. The property, an 1800s former post station, features 12 themed rooms and suites that blend antique Piedmontese furniture with contemporary design and modern art. The estate also includes ‘Il Borgo’, which provides independent apartments for groups or families, and an Italian garden designed by the French landscape studio Coloco.
