Gavin Goudey discusses working with Adam Driver in ‘Paper Tiger’

Actor Gavin Goudey has discussed his experience working alongside Adam Driver in the crime drama ‘Paper Tiger’. Making his feature-film debut, the 20-year-old actor plays the nephew of Driver’s character in the film, which was written and directed by James Gray.

At the New York Film Festival premiere, Goudey expressed his long-standing admiration for Driver, specifically citing his performance as Kylo Ren in the ‘Star Wars’ sequel trilogy. Goudey described the experience of working with Driver as an intensive masterclass, noting the actor’s ability to make bold, emotionally resonant choices during technical sequences, such as a piano scene.

Set in 1986 Queens, ‘Paper Tiger’ follows two brothers, Gary and Irwin Pearl, played by Driver and Miles Teller respectively. The plot centers on a get-rich-quick scheme involving the Gowanus Canal that leads to dangerous entanglements with the Russian mafia, putting Irwin’s wife, played by Scarlett Johansson, and their children at risk.
