Gavin Leatherwood Joins Nina Dobrev in Rom‑Com 'It Happened One Summer

Actor Gavin Leatherwood, known for "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" and "Sex Lives of College Girls," has been added to the cast of the upcoming romantic‑comedy film "It Happened One Summer." The movie adapts Tessa Bailey's bestseller, a viral BookTok hit, and follows influencer Piper Bellinger who is forced to leave her Los Angeles lifestyle and help run her late father's dive bar in a rugged fishing town.

Production is underway in New York. The ensemble includes Nina Dobrev, Tyler Hoechlin and Virginia Gardner, with Peter Hutchings directing. The screenplay was written by Christina Mengert and Joseph Muszynski and the film is produced by BCDF Pictures and Frolic Media, with executive producers Dobrev, Hoechlin, Gardner and Bailey. Embankment handles worldwide sales. Bailey’s novel has sold two million copies in the United States and been translated into 25 languages.
