Gavin Newsom eyes 2028 presidential run with Bill Clinton's counsel

California Governor Gavin Newsom is increasingly viewed as a potential contender for the 2028 presidential election. Newsom has identified former President Bill Clinton as a political mentor, noting that they frequently communicate regarding policy and political strategy.

As he approaches the end of his second term, Newsom has addressed criticisms regarding California’s challenges, including homelessness and income inequality. He defended the state's economic importance, describing it as a tentpole of the U.S. economy and characterizing opposition to his governance as ‘California derangement syndrome.’
