Gavin Newsom's PAC faces potential FEC audit over travel expenses
The Federal Election Commission (FEC) has issued a letter to California Governor Gavin Newsom’s Campaign for Democracy PAC, demanding clarification regarding tens of thousands of dollars in travel reimbursements. The watchdog agency warned that the political action committee could face an audit or enforcement action if it fails to provide the required information by October 6.
The FEC specifically flagged payments categorized as ‘Travel and Event Reimbursement,’ noting that federal disclosure rules may require the PAC to identify the specific businesses that received the reimbursed funds. This inquiry comes as Newsom conducts a political tour through the Southern United States, including Alabama and South Carolina, amid speculation regarding a potential 2028 presidential run.
