Gavin O'Sullivan, founder of major Australian livestock carrier, dies

The Australian livestock transport industry is mourning Gavin O'Sullivan, the founder of O'Sullivan's Transport, who died suddenly at the age of 77.

O'Sullivan established the business in 1969 at his family farm in Elmore with a single prime mover and a two-deck trailer. Under his leadership, the family-owned company grew into one of Australia's largest dedicated livestock carrying fleets, currently operating 55 prime movers and 80 trailers.

Beyond transport, O'Sullivan managed a diverse conglomerate of mixed farming enterprises across north-central Victoria, including live sheep exports, prime lamb feedlotting, and large-scale cropping operations. His agricultural interests extended to the Riverina region, encompassing 14,100 hectares of crops, as well as wool and hay production.
