Gaya introduces environmental initiatives and laser shows for Pitru Paksha
In Gaya, Bihar, traditional religious practices during Pitru Paksha are being integrated with environmental conservation efforts. The district administration and the Forest Department have launched the ‘One Tree in the Name of Ancestors’ initiative at Pitru Vatika in the Brahmayoni Hill area. This campaign encourages devotees to plant trees to honor their ancestors, aiming to transform the region into a green hub through spiritual connection.
Religious traditions in Gaya involve Pind Daan rituals to seek salvation for ancestors. Devotees can perform these rites through various durations, including one, three, five, eight, or seventeen-day ceremonies, utilizing the area's 45 Pind Vedis and three Tarpan sites. To enhance the experience for pilgrims, a new laser light show has also been inaugurated in the city.
