Gaza Ceasefire Agreement Welcomed by PLO Amid Jordanian Crown Prince Warning

The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) praised a newly reached agreement on the second phase of the Gaza cease‑fire, urging full implementation to ensure a permanent end to hostilities, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Strip and the disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups. The PLO also warned of a dangerous escalation in the West Bank, citing ongoing settlement expansion and settler‑linked violence, and called on the international community to adopt a firm stance against further settlement activity.

Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah echoed concerns, stressing the need to lower tensions to achieve regional stability. He affirmed Jordan’s commitment to supporting peace‑building efforts and warned that the situation in both the West Bank and Gaza remains precarious. The Crown Prince referenced the same agreement, which was announced by former U.S. President Donald Trump as a historic step toward lasting peace, part of a 20‑point plan that includes large‑scale humanitarian aid, reconstruction of Gaza and the establishment of a transitional Palestinian administration.

Trump’s declaration described the deal as a comprehensive disarmament of Hamas and a pathway for Israel to secure its security while ending Gaza’s use as a launchpad for attacks. The agreement also envisions an international stabilization force working alongside a new Palestinian police body.
