Gaza children face injury and trauma amid ongoing conflict

Children in the Gaza Strip continue to face severe physical and psychological consequences of the ongoing conflict. In northern Gaza, near the ‘yellow line,’ 11-year-old Moayad al-Tanani was critically injured after a shrapnel from a strike on a neighboring house entered his skull while he was playing football outside his home.

In Deir al-Balah, children who have suffered limb amputations due to bombings are using football as a means of rehabilitation and psychological recovery. Participating in a local football academy, these children report that the sport helps them overcome the trauma of injury and provides a sense of purpose and hope for the future despite their physical disabilities.
