The initiative highlights the severe humanitarian impact on minors in the Gaza Strip. According to UNICEF data, at least 300 children have been killed in the 300 days following the October 2025 ceasefire announcement, averaging one child per day despite the agreement intended to suspend military operations and facilitate aid.

In Italy, the Rete Pace Ferrara has organized a demonstration to support the candidacy and raise awareness about the plight of children facing displacement, injury, and lack of access to education and healthcare. Proponents argue that awarding the prize would center the voices of those who did not decide on the war but continue to pay its highest price.
