Gaza City displaced residents face extreme heat in tent camps

Displaced Palestinians in Gaza City are turning to the sea to escape extreme summer heat within their tent camps. Families report a lack of basic necessities, including electricity, fans, and consistent access to water.

Displaced residents describe living in severe conditions for three years. Fatimeh Kheise noted that the intense heat and lack of shelter have led to increased health issues, stating, "I have a heart problem, and most people in Gaza have developed heart problems because of the suffering we are experiencing."

While children swim in the sea to cool down, residents face new challenges, such as children developing allergies and the declining cleanliness of the seawater. Mohammed Al Nems highlighted the difficulty of sleeping, noting that while people attempt to cool off outside their tents at night, they cannot stay outdoors during the morning due to the presence of rats.
