Hundreds of Palestinians attended a mass funeral on Sunday for 75 individuals whose remains were recovered from beneath destroyed buildings in the Al-Daraj neighborhood of Gaza City. The remains, which included women and children, were wrapped in Palestinian flags before being buried at the Sheikh Radwan Cemetery.

According to Gaza’s Civil Defence, the victims belonged to approximately 20 families, including those who had been displaced to these homes. The recovery efforts are part of a second phase of search operations launched in July, targeting 147 destroyed buildings across northern and central Gaza.

Officials report that recovery operations are severely hindered by a lack of heavy machinery, specialized equipment, and forensic tools. There are concerns that approximately 8,000 to 10,000 people remain missing under the rubble across the Gaza Strip. Civil Defence spokespersons warned that without improved resources, the process of retrieving all remains could take up to eight to ten years.
