Gaza City recovery crews find 19 bodies under residential rubble
Gaza's civil defence teams have recovered 19 bodies, mostly women and children, from a destroyed residential building in Gaza City. The recovery operation at the “Karam” building concluded on Saturday after four days of searching.
Recovery efforts throughout the territory are significantly hindered by a critical shortage of heavy machinery. Consequently, crews are forced to rely on exhausting manual labor and rudimentary tools to shift concrete slabs. Gaza's Health Ministry reports that more than 8,000 people remain missing under the rubble across the region.
Since October 2023, the overall death toll in Gaza is reported to be over 73,300, with more than 174,000 wounded. Since the ceasefire on October 11 of last year, at least 1,254 people have been killed and 4,121 wounded, while 804 bodies have been recovered from debris.
