Gaza Civil Defense recovers 112 bodies from Sabra rubble

Gaza’s Civil Defense announced that rescue teams recovered 112 bodies from the debris of destroyed family homes in the Sabra neighbourhood of Gaza City. The operation, which lasted about 136 hours, yielded 40 children, 38 women and seven people with disabilities among the dead.

The teams were unable to locate an additional 157 bodies that are believed to remain buried. Rescue efforts have been hampered by a shortage of heavy machinery, which Israel restricts from entering the Strip. Humanitarian groups note that roughly 7,500 people are still buried under rubble and the overall death toll in Gaza exceeds 73,300 since the Israeli offensive began.
